ZAGREB, 29 June, 2015 - The period in which the selected operators were obliged to fulfil the conditions for the broadband internet access for the target users under the 7th round of the tender on granting the  state aid for Internet broadband networks in the areas of special state concern, mountain and highland areas and islands has expired. It refers to the broadband Internet connection for 52 target users in six counties, within the framework of the "Strategy for Broadband Access Development in the Republic of Croatia for 2012 – 2015”. Within these two months the experts from the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) will bring a decision whether the conditions for the payment of the state aid to the selected operators have been fulfilled.
Just to remind , at the end of December 2014 after having carried out the public tender for granting the state aid for the construction of the necessary electronic communications infrastructure for the fast development of the broadband network, HAKOM allocated the support for 52 target users and the operators agreed that within six months from the date of signature they must provide all target users with broadband connections with a minimum speed of 2 Mbit / s, and until August, 31, 2016  they should provide a minimum speed of 30 Mbit / s. According to the conditions from the 7th competition round the target users were schools, health care institutions, public institutions and volunteer fire fighters associations in the areas of special state concern, in mountain and highland areas and islands. In the 7th round of the tender the allocation of support of around  9 million HRK of the state aid was agreed with the operators Croatian Telecom and VIPnet, and the support will be paid out only after all conditions are fulfilled and the same has been confirmed.
