The Fourth Croatian Internet Governance Forum (CRO-IGF)

NEWS

The two important topics in the panel discussions will be "The Resistance of Democracy to Cyberattacks" and "The EU Copyright Reform”

ZAGREB, October 17, 2018 –The Fourth Croatian Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be held on Thursday, at the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure in Zagreb. The focus of this year’s Forum is two important topics to be represented on panel discussions such as: "Resistance of Democracy to Cyberattacks" and " The EU Copyright Reform”

The Croatian National Internet Governance Forum (CRO-IGF) is part of the global UN initiative. The IGF initiative was launched in 2006 at the "World Summit on the Information Society" (WSIS) in Tunisia, decided by the UN Secretary General, as an open platform for discussions related to Internet management issues. Immediate motivation for this decision was the necessity for the social community to become involved in the debate on Internet governance and regulation, and all individuals and organizations, academic community members, industry and entrepreneurship, civil society and state administration are equally interested in the issues regarding the future of the Internet in order to improve its development, security and stability, as well as to encourage the high quality of its services. The IGF has no mandate to make decisions or to make binding acts, but its results may affect processes which have binding effects. The IGF’s conclusions and shifting attention to topics considered important by the IGF can influence decision-makers and thus participate in forming an official attitude or public policy. The IGF is fully open to the participation of those interested in the issues of Internet sustainability, stability, security, usage and development, topics for discussion can be proposed by everyone interested.
