HAKOM: Increasing Demand for Parcel Services
PRESS RELEASE
The trend of parcel services growth in the Croatian market has continued in the second quarter of 2018 in comparison to the previous quarter and the same period of the previous year, eventually recording revenue growth in the postal services market.
ZAGREB, September 7, 2018 – At the postal services market in the Republic of Croatia a positive growth from previous periods has continued in the second quarter of this year. The parcel delivery service segment increased by 6 percent compared to the first quarter of 2018, or 11 percent compared to the same period last year. The greatest impact on the growth of parcel services are "express" parcels, i. e the added value services mostly related to e-commerce. The number of these parcels has increased for more than 8 percent compared to the previous quarter. The parcel share on the overall postal market has also been increased due to parcel growth currently covering 6.6 percent of the postal services market.
The total revenue on postal services market is in constant growth, although the total number of services is lower by about 2 percent compared to the previous quarter. In the second quarter of 2018, about 2 percent more revenue was realized than in the previous quarter, or 6 percent more than in the same period of the previous year, as a result of the aforementioned increase in the value added parcels and services. The continuation of positive trend is expected in the future due to expected e-commerce growth as a generator in the postal services market.
The number of postal service providers has not changed. At the end of the second quarter, on the postal services market of the Republic of Croatia there were 23 postal service providers, including HP-Hrvatska d.d. the largest provider with 85 percent market share.
