ZAGREB, April 24, 2018 - The 15th International Conference on FIbre Technologies and Investments in the Development of Electronic Communication Networks Fibre Week 2018 was held in Supetar on the island of Brač.. A series of lectures was held on the topic of broadband access in Croatia, including regulation, standardization, planning / design, financing, construction and management. During the conference, numerous lectures and roundtables was  held on broadband internet, development of new generation networks and implementation of the 5G network.

Experts from the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries  (HAKOM)  actively took part in  the conference. Ivana Madžar, Head of EU Funds at HAKOM   held a lecture on "Developing Next Generation Access Networks through Projects Funded by European Structural and Investment Funds". A presentation on the fibre optic access network, focusing on the fibre optic distribution network (SDM) was held by HAKOM’s experts  Lidija Antonić and  Vladimir Žuti.  Basic assumptions of the justification and effectiveness of the investment in SDM were explained depending on the business model of the investor and as the only possible construction solution in a fixed network with state aid and for investment projects with the option of using  the EU funds.
