The International Day of Radio amateurs

The International Day of Radiometers is celebrated on April 18. In 1925, an International Radio Amateur Union was established in Paris.

ZAGREB, April 18, 2018 - In memory of April 1925 when the International Radio Amateur Union (IARU) was founded in Paris, an association representing the radio amateurs from 158 countries celebrated the International Radio Amateur Day. Today, there are 3 million licensed radio amateurs worldwide and numerous Alliances and Clubs will mark this day with the increased activity in the air. The Croatian Radio Amateur Alliance (HRS) gathers more than 2000 radio amateurs in more than 90 radio clubs being the member of IARU. The Croatian Amateur club  will engage in celebration with a special call mark 9A18WARD. Radio amateur work is regulated by  the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
