HAKOM: More Investments in the Electronic Communications Market in reference to the previous year

At the end of 2017 the number of broadband Internet access connections in the fixed network was more than 1,095 million which is an increase of around 5% compared to 2016. There was also an increase in the number of broadband connections of high speeds for about 24% of the total number of broadband connections in fixed network.
ZAGREB, March 6, 2018 - In the market for electronic communications in the Republic of Croatia the operators continued to invest in infrastructure development, advanced technology and innovative services in 2017. Last year, about 2.6 billion HRK was invested in the electronic communications market, which is 4 percent more than in 2016. Revenues from traditional voice services are in constant fall.
In the mobile network, due to the lack of seasonal effect compared to the previous quarter, the fourth quarter of 2017 marked a decline in the number of users and traffic. In the meantime due to the increase in the use of various communication services such as Viber, WhatsApp, Skype and others, the number of SMS and MMS messages has also fallen by 11% compared to the same period last year users at the end of 2017. In the structure of mobile network, the subscribed customers prevailed, as a result of offering different tariff packages with attractive devices / tablets and increasing the popularity of smartphones.

Approximately 82% of the Croatian population accesses Internet network via mobile networks.
