ZAGREB, October, 2, 2017 - Experts from the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) took part in multilateral meeting on frequency re-planning of digital television and implementation of digital dividends. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the so-called Adriatic Group, whose results should contribute to the international frequency coordination process necessary to switch to DVB-T2 and to release the spectrum of the second digital dividend for the services in mobile networks. The meeting in Tivat, Montenegro, brought together the representatives of the regulatory bodies of Albania, Montenegro, Greece, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia and San Marino. The negotiations between neighbouring countries were concluded by signing an agreement harmonizing the spectrum for broadcasting at the regional level in the Adriatic and Ionian region.
This will enable the usage of the radio frequency spectrum of the second digital dividend for services in mobile networks such facilitating the international harmonization of the frequencies needed to switch to a new standard of coding and transmission and to release the spectrum of the other digital dividend for the provision of broadband services in mobile communications networks, the Union and the European Committee for Electronic Communications.
The work of this group of the countries is based upon the work of South European Digital Dividend Implementation Forum, SEDDIF which deals with the same topic but the other geographical area.
