First national comparative research on media habits of children and their parents and the child safety online

HAKOM is a partner in the research that will be carried out by the end of October, and the given results will be used, among other things, in drafting  new booklet entitled "How to Protect Your Child in the World of Internet, Network Technologies and Mobile Phones".
 
ZAGREB, September 14, 2017 – Within the scope of the project "Eu Kids Online", first national comparative study of media habits of children and their parents has stared as well as the child safety online. The survey will be conducted until the end of October comprising 1,000 children aged between 9 and 17 and their parents / guardians. The research will be focused benefits and risks of using the Internet; the intensity of Internet usage depending on the age and socioeconomic characteristics of children will be determined putting emphasis on the  role of parents, teachers and environment in child protection and education on the internet. Key research results will be presented in November and will be delivered to the Ministry of Science and Education and curricular reform leaders aimed to help creating a new education policy.
 
HAKOM is a partner in the research that will be carried out by the end of October, and the given results will be used, among other things, in drafting new booklet entitled  "How to Protect Your Child in the World of Internet, Network Technologies and Mobile Phones". A booklet containing practical and useful tips on Internet dangers and security, privacy and personal data protection, behaviour and use of social networks was first introduced in November 2016 within the scope of the project children on the internet and in the world of network technologies. Within the scope of the project, HAKOM's experts continually carry out parent education programme  of fifth grade elementary school pupils, aimed to provide information to parents about responsible behaviour when using online technologies, when children start to use them independently without constant supervision of adults.
