At this year's Jubilee 40th International MIPRO 2017 Convention, HAKOM was the organizer of two roundtables on "Contribution to the Digital Society Progress through the Development of Broadband Internet Access in the Areas of no commercial interest" and "The Future of the 5G Network in Mobile Communication on the Road to the Gigabit". HAKOM also participated in the roundtable "Introduction of digital radio DAB + in Croatia".
ZAGREB, May 23, 2017 - The 40th International ICT Group MIPRO was held in the Grand Hotel in Opatija in the period from 22 to 26 May. The Conference brought together numerous domestic and foreign experts from the field of Information and Communication Technologies and Related High Technologies in economy, education, science and management. Within the scope of the convention ten conferences were held regarding the most important areas of high technology, several round tables analysing the impact of ICT development on economic and social development, workshops, seminars, forums and thematic days dedicated to specific technological topics.
The Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM), the organizer of two roundtables was held on Tuesday, May 23rd. The first roundtable on "Contribution to Digital Society Progress through Broadband Access in the Areas of Non-Commercial Interest“ provided current information to all stakeholders involved in the process of developing and building broadband infrastructure in the areas of non-commercial interest, providing the insight into the existing situation and guidance to potential users from the EU funds on the steps needed for successful implementation of the projects. The objective of the round table involved institutions as well as the representatives of project holders and their partners.
The second round table, entitled "The Future of 5G Networks in Mobile Communication on the Road to Gigabit Societies" gave an overview of the most important aspects of the technical and economic effects of 5G technology, highlighting the challenges the industry, operators and regulators are faced with by clarifying the impact of new technologies on current users of radio frequency spectrum and the existing services. All interested parties were provided with information regarding the necessary guidelines for the successful introduction of 5G technology.
HAKOM's experts also participated in the round table on "Introduction of Digital Radio DAB + in Croatia", in order to present the possibilities and challenges in introducing DAB + digital radio in Croatia and the importance of radio digitalization for stakeholders of the Croatian Radio Market.
A degree of implementation of DAB + digital radio in Europe and the world as well as a general overview of digital radio technology were presented as well.
