The Fourth HAKOM's “Market Day” gathered stakeholders from the electronic communications, rail and postal services markets

The conference highlighted a significant growth in investing into the modern electronic communications network, railway infrastructure as well as revenue growth on the postal services market, primarily due to e-commerce. This is a good foundation that can significantly improve the position of the Croatian economy within the EU’s digital single market.
ZAGREB, March 15, 2017 - The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) held the fourth HAKOM's Markets Day, an annual conference on the electronic communications, postal and railway service market regulation. This is a traditional gathering which brings together the representatives of the stakeholders in the electronic communications, postal and railway service market as well as state institutions, the economy and the media aimed to maintain and improve the regulatory framework for investments and implementation of new services in all markets under the HAKOM’s competence by raising the level of consumer protection and sustainable competition.
“HAKOM will continue with socially responsible market regulation and together with other stakeholders work on further development of the market of electronic communications and postal services as well as the on development of railway services market which has been liberalized for less than three years. A significant growth in investment in modern electronic communications network and railway infrastructure as well as revenue growth in the postal services market primarily because of e-commerce, is a proof that the Republic of Croatia owns both; skills and knowledge to improve the situation of its economy in the EU’s digital single market.˝, pointed out Mr. Dražen Lučić, President of the Council at HAKOM in his presentation entitled "Where are we now and where are we going?"
The presentation entitled “Digital Croatia” was held by Mr. Ignac Jambrusić who spoke about the information and communication resources as well the digital age that makes “The Digital Croatia”. He pointed out that the development goals of the Republic of Croatia based on national resources, which includes “The Digital Croatia” as well, must be included in the goals set by the EU and should be eventually reached.
Within HAKOM’s Market Day there was a panel discussion on the topic of digital transformation, led by Domagoj Jurjević, Deputy President of the Council at HAKOM. Other stakeholders were Mario Antonić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, Bernard Gršić, Assistant Minister of Administration, Davor Tomašković, the CEO and President of the Management Board at Hrvatski Telekom (HT) Viktor Pavlinić, President of the Management Board at Tele2.
The topic of the panel discussion was the analysis of indicator DESI 2017 in terms of distribution networks for broadband Internet access and their usage compared to other EU countries, as well as actions and decisions that should made the by the state and the operators in order to improve the position of the Republic of Croatia in the upcoming period. In addition, it was discussed about services the operators and countries are planning to offer in order to encourage the usage of Broadband Internet access, particularly at high speeds.
