ZAGREB, 14 December 2016 - Following the invitation of the organizer, the International Telecommunication Union, the World Radiocommunication Seminar 2016 was held In Geneva, Switzerland. The discussion topics were related to the use of radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits, as well as the implementation of the provisions of the Radio Regulations ITU. The seminar was attended by more than 500 participants, representatives Member States of the ITU, the industry, regional and international organizations, intergovernmental organizations managing the satellite systems, academia and other stakeholders.
 
This year's meeting commemorates the 110th anniversary of signing the International Radiotelegraph Convention, the predecessor of today’s ITU’s Radio Regulations, signed at the first International Radiotelegraph Conference in Berlin in 1906. The opening speech was held by Deputy Secretary General of the ITU Malcolm Johnson. He pointed out that the Radio Regulations were foundation of successful development of Radiocommunication technologies and services used by billions of people around the world. Director of the Radiocommunication Bureau Mr. Francois Rancy held a speech and stressed the importance of radio communication for the development of society and economy. The seminar covered topics from the field of radio frequency spectrum management, procedures related to the entry record in the Master International Frequency Register (MIFR), an overview of changes of the Radio Regulations with the World Radio Conference 2015 WRC 15) and activities in the preparation of the report from the agenda of next World Radio-communication conference 2019 (WRC-19), the current regulatory framework of the international radio frequency spectrum management, ITU-R recommendations and software tools used in terrestrial and space radio communications. In addition, the workshop related to terrestrial and space radio communications was  held,  enabling the stakeholders  to gain experience with the notification procedures in the ITU, software solutions and electronic publications produced by the BR, Radiocommunication Bureau ITU.
 
The representatives of the Republic of Croatia and HAKOM were Željko Tabaković, Deputy Director at HAKOM and Marijan Globan, Senior Microwave and Satellite Networks Expert.
