HAKOM at this Year’s BEREC Final Plenary Session

At the plenary session BEREC adopted its opinion on the proposal of the European Commission regarding the review of the regulatory framework for the electronic communications.
ZAGREB, December 13, 2016 – On December 8 and 9 Berlin hosted plenary session of Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications. The main topic was the discussion on BEREC opinion regarding the proposal of the new regulatory framework. After the final discussion BEREC adopted the opinion which is not binding for the European Commission In addition BEREC’s work program for 2017 was adopted as well as the fourth report on the transparency and comparability of different roaming tariffs offered by the operators to its customers. The Guest of the final BEREC session was a Tom Wheeler, Chairman of the US regulatory authority for the electronic communications, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), who spoke about the development of the electronic communications market in the United States.
The leadership election for the future period is always held at the last session of the year; BEREC Vice-Chairman for 2017 and BEREC Chairman for 2018. The Vice-Chairman in 2017 is Mrs. Alejandra de Iturriaga Gandini (CNMC Spain) and Mr. Stephen Unger (Ofcom - United Kingdom), while Mr. Johannes Gungl (RTD - Austria).will be elected for BEREC Chairman in 2018, who is also elected Vice-Chairman in 2017 Domagoj Jurjević, Deputy President of the Council at the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) and Marko Čavlović, Deputy Director at HAKOM took part in the meeting.
