The HRK 5 monthly fee for radio frequency use will no longer be charged to subscribers starting today
PRESS RELEASE
The last amendments to the Ordinance on payment of fees for the right of use of addresses, numbers and the RF spectrum abolished the HRK 5 monthly fee for radio frequency use which mobile subscribers have been paying until now.
ZAGREB, 1 September 2016 – The Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure adopted the amendments to the Ordinance on payment of fees for the right of use of addresses, numbers and the RF spectrum concerning not only users of certain communications systems but also all citizens, including private and business users. More precisely, the provision laying down the fee for the payment of the service of the end radio station in the subscriber system amounting to HRK 60.00 per year has been revoked. In this manner the subscribers’ monthly financial burden will be reduced by HRK 5 which was listed in the monthly bill as the RF spectrum use fee.
In order to stimulate competition and increase the use of the spectrum in the 3,5,10 and 26 GHz frequency bands, the fee for use of the RF spectrum for the point-multipoint networks has been reduced to less than half of its current amount. Those radiofrequency bands are currently not used and this measure is aimed at attracting potential new operators and other users so that this part of the spectrum would not remain unused.
Furthermore, the amount of RF spectrum use fee has also been reduced for international point-to-point links because the fee is charged both in the Republic of Croatia and in the country where the second end point of the link is located meaning that the fee for a single link was being charged twice.
The above-mentioned reductions of fees will contribute to alleviating citizens’ financial burden and to increased use of the spectrum as a limited common national resource.
