The topic of the meeting which is taking place in Brussels is the proposal of a Regulation on wholesale roaming prices. The adoption of the Regulation is a necessary precondition for complete elimination of retail charges for roaming services envisaged for June of next year.
ZAGREB, 30 June 2016 – A meeting of the Working Party on Telecommunications of the Council of the European Union is taking place in Brussels. The topic of the meeting is the proposal of a Regulation on wholesale roaming prices. The adoption of the Regulation is a necessary precondition for complete elimination of retail charges for roaming services envisaged for June of 2017. The Regulation will be adopted in the ordinary legislative procedure in which the text of the Regulation must be agreed upon by the Council of the EU and the European Parliament. The discussion will have to lead to a compromise between interests of Member States with significant inflow of foreign users, in particular during the tourist season, and Member States whose users often spend time abroad.
The meeting is attended by experts from the Croatian Regulatory Authority (HAKOM), Mr. Mislav Hebel and Mr. Domagoj Maričić.
