HAKOM at the meeting of the SRD/MG

NEWS 

The main topic of the meeting was the drafting of a proposal for a stronger technical alignment of the radio-frequency spectrum in the 870 – 876 MHz and 915 – 921 MHz for use of short-range devices in Europe.
 
ZAGREB, 29 June 2016 – A meeting of the SRD/MG (Short Range Devices/Maintenance Group) is being held in Copenhagen. This working group is in charge of technical alignment of the radiofrequency spectrum for the use of short-range devices. On the basis of its research, this working group carries out and assesses requests and possibilities for future use of the valuable and limited resource, the radiofrequency spectrum. Furthermore, the working group discussed the solutions for improvement in regulation with a view to stimulating further innovations. The existing regulation is clarified to the participants on the market. 
 
The main topic of the meeting is the development of a proposal for additions to the 59th CEPT Report. The objective of the addition to the 59th CEPT report is the development of the regulatory framework within the 870 – 876 MHz frequency bands for the purpose of European technical alignment and enabling the development of the growing number of new SRD applications. A new regulatory framework is needed for the 915 – 921 MHz frequency band for new SRD applications that will have clear benefits from the possible future coordination of use of the radiofrequency spectrum.  
                                                 
The meeting of the group is attended by 24 participants from EU Member States, and representatives of the industry and the European Communications Office – ECO. The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) is represented by a senior expert for RiTT equipment, Mr. Tomislav Bartolec.
