HAKOM gave a lecture for consumers

A workshop entitled “Advising Consumers” and a lecture on consumer protection were organized in cooperation with a consumer protection association entitled Consumer Centre. HAKOM’s experts informed participants about the rights of users and obligations of operators of electronic communications services.
ZAGREB, 16 June 2016 – A thematic workshop entitled “Advising Consumers” was organized yesterday in Rijeka in cooperation with a consumer protection association, the “Consumer Centre”. The workshop was attended by representatives of consumer protection associations and interested citizens, and HAKOM’s experts gave a lecture on the protection of consumers in electronic communications.
HAKOM was represented by consumer protection experts, Marina Ljubić Karanović and. Andro Marčev, who informed the participants during an interesting discussion about the rights of users and obligations of operators electronic communications services, in particular those concerning the conclusion and termination of subscription contracts, the possibility to control spending or protection from unwanted bill amounts. New user rights and new obligations for operators were introduced during the lecture, as well as stricter obligations for operators concerning the conclusion of distance contracts with users, which were recently prescribed by HAKOM and will enter into force on 4 June 2016.
