HAKOM at the 21st Mobile World Congress

HAKOM’s representatives participated at the 21st Mobile World Congress - MWC 2016 which was held from 22 to 25 February in Barcelona.
ZAGREB, February 24, 2016 - GSM Association-GSMA which is the organizer of Mobile World Congress-MWC 2016 held the 21st Congress in Barcelona in the period from 22 to 25 February. Mr. Mario Weber, Executive Director at HAKOM and Mr. Mario Čavlović, Assistant Director at HAKOM participated at the 21st congress where they held bilateral meetings with the representatives of regulatory authorities, international organizations (ITU, GSMA,) the operators and the economy.
One of the central topics of this year's congress was related to the Internet of Things IoT). This year IoT has experienced an explosion in growth compared to the previous year. Although the "smart cities" have not yet become a reality it is obvious that the whole industry is willing to develop these solutions. Unlike the previous years, this year a number of Iot solutions have been visible such as improving the safety of passenger and goods transportation, the efficient parking management and other measures to increase the efficiency in various spheres of the society. The IoT regulation issue is also an important discussion topic.
In addition to the topics about the IoT services development, the regulatory world, the main discussion topic is the new regulatory framework. The European Commission is currently in the initial phase of work on the legislative proposals of the revision of the electronic communications regulatory framework.. The business activities will last whole springtherefore the concrete proposals are not expected before the middle of 2016.
