Deputy-Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) visits HAKOM

Today HAKOM hosted a visit by Deputy Secretary General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). His visit was aimed at deepening of cooperation between ITU and the Republic of Croatia and at the exchange of experiences in the electronic communications sector.
ZAGREB, 30 September 2014 – Mr. Houlin Zhao, who has been Deputy-Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for eight years and who is the only candidate for the Secretary General Position at the forthcoming ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2014 in South Korea in October, visited the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) today for the first time. Mr. Houlin Zhao will exchange experiences in the electronic communications sector with representatives of HAKOM and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure. The visit included the presentation of roles and activities of HAKOM, projects for promoting the development of electronic communications and broadband, possibilities for the elimination of harmful interferences from the Republic of Italy and possibilities for deepening cooperation between ITU and the Republic of Croatia. Following the exchange of opinions on numerous topics, the esteemed guest visited HAKOM where he was informed by his hosts about some important ongoing activities and projects. He also visited the control and monitoring centre in HAKOM and its vehicles for radiofrequency spectrum monitoring and measuring purposes.
