HAKOM: Broadband Internet Access – the prevailing manner for providing services in the mobile network
PRESS RELEASE
According to the indicators on the electronic communications market, the revenue from internet access services continued to grow in the first quarter of 2014 as opposed to telephone services in the fixed network.
ZAGREB, 30 May 2014 – The main areas of growth in the provision of services are Internet access and pay-TV, whose revenue continued to grow in this quarter. According to indicators of the electronic communications market development in the first quarter of 2014, the share of revenue from the internet access service in the total revenue on the electronic communications market in 2014 amounts to almost 25 percent which is to a large extent caused by increased development and usage of broadband services. This indicator amounted to 21 percent at the end of last year.
Although it is stable, the number of users of telephone services in the fixed network keeps decreasing. It is expected that this trend will continue in the upcoming period, in the first place because it may be expected that users will increasingly choose packages that include broadband and television services. Consequently, the number of users of packages with two types of services (2D packages) for the first time passed 300 000 in the first quarter of 2014, and almost 65 percent of broadband connections are part of a package of services.
The number of users of the carrier preselection service (CPS) continued to decrease because new operators have been transferring more users to their own infrastructure. At the same time, the number of users of wholesale line rental service (WLR) has continued to grow compared to the previous period, which shows that operators have been increasingly issuing a single invoice for all electronic communications services. It may be expected that almost all users who are exclusively using the publicly available telephone service will soon start receiving a single invoice.
