HAKOM’s representatives, Marijan Bolarić, member of the Council of HAKOM and Dalibor Lončar, Assistant Director of HAKOM, participate in the work of the 49th Plenary Session of the CERP (European Committee for Postal Regulation), which takes place on 29th and 30th of May 2014 in Skopje.
ZAGREB, 29 May 2014 – The 49th Plenary Session of the CERP takes place in Skopje on 29th and 30th of May 2014 where a new President and two Vice-Presidents of the CERP will be elected for the period between 2014 and 2017. The Plenary Session takes place at a time when new trends indicate that there has been an improvement in the quality of postal services and that new technologies are being introduced into the postal sector, which is also a time of perceptible fall in amounts of postal items. The Plenary Session will allow for mutual exchange of experiences and knowledge through the presentation of reports of different working groups.
The role of CERP, founded in 1992, under the auspices of CEPT (The European Conference of Postal and telecommunications), is to research postal regulatory affairs in the European context, taking into account changes in boundaries between regulatory and operative aspects, to assess the impact of international regulatory policies in all Member States of CEPT and to establish special contacts with the European Union and maintain relations with representatives of competent authorities and associations competent for regulatory issues in the postal services sector. Furthermore, CERP is also in charge of developing proposals on the basis of results achieved in working groups (WG UPU, WG Policy).
