HAKOM’s New Interactive Portal
PRESS RELEASE
HAKOM has launched a new interactive portal accessible via the Internet. The portal consists of three thematic maps: broadband accessibility map, the consolidated plan of mobile networks operators and the publication of intention to deploy optical fibre distribution network.
ZAGREB, 21 February 2014 – As of today, HAKOM has launched a new and extended GIS interactive portal. The portal is used to map the electronic communications infrastructure (ECI) areas in the Republic of Croatia. The previous version with only one thematic map, which showed broadband coverage in accordance with the EU guidelines for aid to EU funds’ investment, has been upgraded by two more maps: the consolidated plan of mobile networks operators and the publication of intention to deploy optical fibre distribution network.
The thematic map for the consolidated plan of operators shows the existing stand-alone antenna tower locations in the Republic of Croatia as well as the plans of electronic communications zones for all three operators of mobile communication networks, while the thematic map of intention to deploy shows the areas in which there is intention to deploy optical fibre networks. These two thematic maps are a complete novelty on HAKOM’s interactive portal. While the previous version of the interactive map of broadband coverage has undergone improvement, it is now possible to show broadband coverage depending on type of access technology (wireless, wireline).
