HAKOM published a public invitation for the allocation of the 116 000 number for the Hotline for missing children.

ZAGREB, 16 March 2016 – The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) published a public invitation for the allocation of the 116 000 number for the service of the Hotline for missing children. Anyone responsible for a missing child may use the 116 000 number for the service of a Hotline for missing children to report a missing child, to get assistance and support and help during the investigation. The Hotline will forward the report to the police. The Hotline for missing children is a service that is always available (i.e. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the entire country).

The allocated number is part of the 116 numbering range intended for services of social value, that is, for services with special social sensitivity (Harmonized European Short Code).
This numbering range is part of the European regulation aimed at achieving the purpose of “same number – same service” in the entire European Union, that is, the accessibility of services of social value by dialing the same, easily recognizable numbers in the entire EU. For that purpose, five numbers in the 116 XXX format were reserved for individual services of social value.

More information about regulations on the 116 numbers are available at the following link http://ec.europa.eu/digital-agenda/en/116-helplines.

Since the period for which the 116 000 number was allocated has expired, HAKOM initiated a procedure for the reallocation of the above-mentioned number. The necessary documents and all other information are available at the link default.aspx?id=1014
