HAKOM helps Georgia – expert consultations with TAIEX beneficiary countries

PRESS RELEASE

HAKOM’s experts help Georgia in the drafting of a new Postal Services Act

ZAGREB, 3 June 2014 – European Commission’s Directorate General for Enlargement, which carries out TAIEX missions providing short-term technical assistance to candidate countries and potential candidate countries for the implementation of EU legislation, established cooperation between HAKOM and Georgia’s authorities. HAKOM, who was among TAIEX beneficiaries before Croatia’s accession to the European Union, responded to Georgia’s needs and sent two experts on a three day visit to Tbilisi to present Croatia’s experience with the preparation of legislation for the opening of the postal services market in compliance with the EU postal directives.

HAKOM’s experts, Ana Šubat Perković and Marijan Bolarić, who participate in the TAIEX programme as experts from the European Union Member States, will carry out the TAIEX mission in early June. This mission will be the second time that HAKOM participated in the provision of technical assistance to countries outside the European Union which indicates the level of respect enjoyed by HAKOM abroad, particularly since it has been less than a year since Croatia’s accession to the EU.
