ZAGREB, May 24, 2019 - "HAKOM's Market Day" was held within the scope of the international MIPRO meeting in Opatija, the traditional annual meeting on in reference to regulation of electronic communications postal and rail services market This year's Market Day has brought together about a hundred representatives of the equity markets of electronic communications, postal services and rail services, as well as state institutions for the economy. At the meeting, the activities and results on the markets regulated by HAKOM were presented and the panel discussions "Adapting to new Trends and Technologies" were discussed in the forthcoming period and highlighted the challenge of introducing the 5G.
During the first part of the meeting the President of the Council, of HAKOM, Tonko Obuljen emphasized that in the following period HAKOM's work will focus on the biggest challenges as a regulator, namely the implementation of the EU Electronic Communications Act, spectrum management and introduction of 5G, setting up a framework for investments and development of broadband infrastructure, developing a package delivery market, and enabling a sustainable perspective on services in the rail market.
The second part of the Market Day marked the panel discussion "Adapting to New Trends and Technologies" on the expectations and challenges of 5G. the Participants of the meeting were Nataša Malić, Access Networks Head at Htrvatski Telekom, Martina Dragičević, Director of Regulatory Affairs and EU Funds A1 Croatia, Nenad Šlibar, IT Director at Tele2, Mihael Jančić, Head of Sector for Development of Radiocommunication Networks Division, Dalibor Matanić , Head of the HŽ Infrastruktura Electrical Engineering Investments Group, and panel was headed by Ivo Majerski from HAKOM. Within the scope of panel discussion the most popular topics referred to the propagation of the operator on the future role of 5G technology in the development of digital society and economics, which are a prerequisite for its introduction, such as acceptable development models and more efficient technologies. Likewise, we found out which verticals were potentially interesting for the initial monetization of the new network, as well as the challenges that are not discussed as they should be such as the power consumption and power supply of the entire system. Panel also expressed the views regarding the EU development funds, and this was the case with the National Broadband Access Development Programme - NPBBI.
