Allocation of Funds from the “Connecting Europe Broadband Fund“ (CEBF)

The CEBF was founded by the European Commission (EC), together with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and 3 national development banks in order to finance small projects of broadband infrastructure development which have had problems with source of finance.

 
ZAGREB, January 31, 2019 –The implementation of the project  Rural Network Project RUNE will be financed from the Connecting Europe Broadband Fund (CEBF). It refers to the project launched to provide ultra-fast broadband fibre infrastructure for the users in rural areas of the Republic of Croatia (Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Istra County) and Slovenia. By constructing in the areas that are currently not covered by fibre optic infrastructure, RUNE will help local government units to achieve the goals of the Digital Agenda for Europe 2020 by providing connectivity to a new fibre optic access network enabling the speeds exceeding 1 Gbps.

The CEBF was established in June 2018. The European Commission (EC), together with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and 3 national development banks, German KfW, Italian Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, French Caisse des Depots. The CEBF fund has been established to enable financing of smaller broadband infrastructure development projects that have had difficulties with the source of finance. This should be the other way of financing the  projects, together with the already existing ones, both; the European financial instruments and private sources of funding in the market.
