HAKOM's Experts at the Meeting on Harmonization of Frequency Spectrum for Broadcasting at Regional Level
NEWS
The negotiations between the neighbouring states will contribute to the international harmonization of frequencies necessary to switch to a new standard for digital TV encryption and transmission in order to provide additional radio frequency spectrum for broadband services in mobile networks, and to harmonize frequencies for FM radio and digital radio in the VHF band.
ZAGREB, June 27, 2017 - A multilateral meeting was held in Rome on the topic of aligning the frequency spectrum of broadcasting at the regional level in the Adriatic Sea. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the regulatory authorities of Albania, Montenegro, Greece, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia and San Marino. The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) was represented by HAKOM’s experts Željko Tabaković, Miran Gosta and Danijel Vlahović.
The harmonization to TV Spectrum contributes to switching transition to new TV coding and broadcasting standards and for allocating the spectrum of other digital dividends for the provision of broadband services in mobile communications networks based on the decisions of the European Union and the European Committee for Electronic Communications.
The topic on co-ordination requirements in VHF Zone II and Zone III was discussed at themeeting, with special emphasis on the problem of long-term interruptions caused by Italian radio stations in Croatia.
