HAKOM: Positive Trends in the Postal Service Market

In the first quarter of 2017 the number of postal parcels and revenues increased in comparison to the same period last year. ZAGREB, May 30, 2017 - The postal services market in the Republic of Croatia continued to show a positive trend in the first quarter of 2017. The number of parcels has increased by 23 percent compared to the same period in 2016 which made the parcel grow on the market for about 1 %.The number of parcels has also risen and the number of parcels has been increased for 13 % in comparison to 2015. Such a trend in packet growth may be associated with e-commerce development. The increase in the number of parcels has contributed to the increase in revenues generated by the postal services so that these revenues are higher by 4 percent compared to the same period last year implying that annual results in 2017 will be better than in 2016. Positive trends in the postal services market also affect postal investment growing year after year aimed to moderate and improve service delivery. According to the data of postal service providers in 2016, 118 million HRK was invested which is 40 % more than a year earlier. During the first quarter of 2017, a postal service provider stopped carrying out postal services. Therefore at the end of the quarter there were 22 service providers including the largest provider HP-Hrvatska Pošta with its share amounting 82 percent at the end of the first quarter.
