HAKOM at the Multilateral Meeting on the Implementation of the Digital Dividend

The negotiations between the neighbouring countries will contribute to the process of international harmonization of frequencies necessary for the transition to the new encoding standard and transmission of digital television as well as the provision of additional radiofrequency spectrum for broadband services in the mobile communications networks.
  
ZAGREB, March 21, 2017- Rome hosted a multilateral meeting on the implementation of the digital dividend, attended by the representatives of regulatory bodies of Albania, Montenegro, Greece, Croatian, Italy, Slovenia and San Marino. The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) was represented by Željko Tabaković, Deputy Director at HAKOM, and Ivančica Sakal, Head of Radio communications Department at HAKOM Miran Gosta, Senior Broadcasting Planning Expert and Krešimir Šakić, Senior Broadcasting Planning Expert.

At the meeting, the frequency spectrum for broadcasting was harmonized at the regional level in the area of ​​the Adriatic Sea. This will enable the usage of radio frequency spectrum of digital dividend for other services in mobile communications and facilitate the international harmonization of frequencies necessary for the transition to the new encoding standard and transmission as well as the release of digital dividend spectrum  for the provision of  broadband services in mobile communications networks pursuant to  the Decision of the European Union and the European Committee for the Electronic Communications. The work of these group of countries is based upon the work of South European Digital Dividend Implementation Forum, SEDDIF (it refers to the same topic but another geographical area).
