HAKOM at the Meetings of the Working Party on Telecommunications and Information Society and the Working Group for Postal Services

The Working Party on Telecommunications and Information Society held a meeting whose topic was the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council on privacy and protection of personal data in electronic communications. The working group responsible for the postal services discussed the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on cross-border parcel delivery services.

ZAGREB, March 1, 2017 - On February 28, Brussels hosted the meeting of the Working Party on Telecommunications and Information Society. HAKOM’s expert Marina Brkljačić took part in the meeting on behalf of the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries. At the meeting it was discussed on the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council on privacy and protection of personal data in electronic communications. The Commission presented the Regulation which will replace the Directive on the processing of personal data and privacy in electronic communications expected to be applied as of May 28, 2018.

The meeting of the working group responsible for postal services was held to discuss the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on cross-border parcel delivery services launched by the European Commission in May 2016 and submitted to the regular legislative procedure. The Proposal for a Regulation shall be adopted as one of the measures within the Digital Single Market Strategy (DSM) with the aim to help the users of services and companies from the EU to take full advantage of the single market of the EU such as: easier and more reliable buying and selling of  goods and online services, improving the price transparency, eliminating the cross-border obstacles and administrative constraints, enhancing the regulatory oversight of cross-border parcels delivery and applying the measures to eliminate potential unfair commercial practices in the digital world.
