HAKOM: Continuation of a Positive Trend on the Postal Services MarketPRESS RELEASEIncreased activities on the postal services market continued in the last quarter of 2016 which resulted in the increased number of postal services and total revenue
ZAGREB, February 27, 2017 - The continuation of positive trends on the postal services market in the Republic of Croatia was recorded in the fourth quarter of 2016 and in the last several years. The growth was recorded in almost all segments on the market. In comparison to the previous quarter around a 3 % increase of services was recorded. All types of shipments (letters, parcels and printed matter) had impact on the growth but a continual growth was noticed still at the beginning of the year.
In the fourth quarter of 2016 the increased activity was recorded in the international traffic, particularly in the area of cross-border traffic parcels or the services related to e-commerce and compared to the previous quarter of the same year the number of services increased by 15 %. The previously mentioned growth resulted in the growth of international traffic market share in total traffic, so around 8 % of all postal services was achieved in the international traffic, which is of 10% compared to the quarter before that. Compared to the previous quarter and the same period of the year before, a positive development was recorded in relation to revenue growth from the provision of postal services. The revenue growth was also recorded on an annual basis, therefore, compared to the 2015, a revenue growth by 5 % was recorded regardless of the decrease in the total number of postal services provided. All this resulted in a large number of provided services with an added value or express services reaching a 9% increase compared to the 2015. Taking into consideration further economic growth in the Republic of Croatia in 2017 it is expected that such positive trends will continue on the postal services market. A total of 22 providers provided their services on the postal services market in the Republic of Croatia. The dominant provider is HP-Hrvatska pošta d.d. reaching 81% market share. # # # For additional information please contact: Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) Roberta Frangeša Mihanovića 9 10110 Zagreb, Croatia Tel. + 385 (0) 1 700 70 07 Fax + 385 (0)1 700 70 70 Media inquiries can be submitted online using HAKOM’s official website: Registration required.
