HAKOM’s warning: New attempts of fraud against users

HAKOM warns of a new attempt of abuse of electronic communications and fraud against users by means of a personalized text message asking users to return a call.


ZAGREB, 19 December 2016 – New attempted abuse of the electronic communications has been recorded as well as a fraudulent attempt intended to the users who receive SMS messages from international country code. Various winnings or gifts are promised to the end users in the holiday season .This is called a fraudulent attempt. Once again, in order to avoid unwanted costs, the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) warns users not to respond to missed calls or messages from an unknown number, especially when it comes to international numbers. Before returning to a call or message, users can check the number with the selected operator.
 
In case of suspicious   or fraudulent calls /messages please inform your operator or HAKOM on nezeljeni.sms@hakom.hr.
