HAKOM at a Workshop Organized by the European Commission and DG CONNECT

Following the invitation of the organizers the European Commission and DG CONNECT the second workshop was held in Brussels regarding the project "Mapping of Broadband Services in Europe" (SMART 2014/0016)
 
ZAGREB, 14 December 2016 -  Following the invitation of the organizers the European Commission and DG CONNECT, (Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission) the second  workshop was held in Brussels  regarding the  project "Mapping of Broadband Services in Europe" (SMART 2014/0016).

The reliable and valid data on the existing infrastructure and broadband services are the basis, aimed at achieving broadband connection of  Digital Single Market (DSM). Therefore, using this project of mapping of broadband services in Europe, the EC is trying to establish a unified platform with data on infrastructure and services within the EU, which will facilitate the launch of the investments and the protection of users' rights through the transparency of the publication of quality of services provided. During recent months the European Commission has incorporated feedback national initiatives of broadband mapping and continuing  to develop the mapping platform  and visualisation of connectivity and quality of service within the EU and EEA.
 
The functionality of a single platform was presented at the workshop as well as  the way of data collection in public institutions such as regulators or ministries and scientific institutions. In addition, the views and experiences were exchanged in the mapping implementation of broadband services. Public presentation of data via broadband platform is expected in 2017.
 
The stakeholders of the workshop were representatives of regulatory authorities of the EU Member States and renowned experts in the field of electronic communications. Vesna Gašpar, expert at the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM).
