HAKOM at the meeting of the Working Group Numbering and Networks (WG NaN)

The meeting was convened with a view to developing recommendations on addressing and numbering and other regulatory technical issues in the electronic communications sector.

 
Zagreb, 24 November 2016 – A three-day meeting of the Working Group Numbering and Networks (WG NaN) has been organized in Brussels by the Belgian national regulatory authority BIPT (Belgisch Instituut voor postdiensten en telecommunicatie) . The Working Group Numbering and Networks (WG NaN) is part of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) which is responsible for developing the addressing and numbering rules and for the counselling and development of recommendations on technical issues for promoting and supporting innovation and competition in the electronic communications sector. 

The most important topics of this meeting include: the adoption of recommendations on the use of the Assisted-Global Navigation Satellite System to improve the location information of callers of emergency services from mobile devices, the database of E.164 numbers of different European countries intended for facilitating contacts between the Public Safety Answering Points, the harmonized principles for management and allocation of E.212 mobile network codes and the regulatory aspects of migration from PSTN/ISDN to IP-based networks.

The meeting is attended by 51 representatives from 28 national regulatory authorities, the European Communications Office and the European Commission and DG CONNECT (Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission). An expert from the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM), Robert Vulas, is actively participating in the meeting.
