HAKOM at the Meeting of the Working Party on Telecommunications and Information Society

At the meeting it was discussed on the draft Regulation on roaming wholesale prices whose adoption is a necessary condition for the complete abolition of retail roaming charges that should happen in June 2017.

ZAGREB, October 11,– The meeting of the Working Party on Telecommunications and Information Society was held in Brussels.  The working group deals with issues related to information and communication technology and infrastructure, the Internet and the creation of a digital single market in Europe. The main topic of the meeting was the discussion on the Draft Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council related to the Regulation on Roaming in Public Mobile Communications Networks within the Union.  
 
The representative of the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) Mr. Mislav Hebel took part in the meeting of the working group, where the discussion topic was draft Regulation on roaming wholesale prices. During the discussions the representatives of the Member States presented their views on the amendments to the Draft Proposal and it will be necessary to reach a compromise between the interests of the Member States having different views from the wholesale roaming market. The adoption of this regulation is a necessary condition for the complete abolition of retail charges for roaming expected in June 2017. The Regulation shall be adopted by the ordinary legislative procedure and its content must be approved by the EU Council and the European Parliament.
