ZAGREB, 6 September 2016 – In the second quarter of 2016, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the use of rail infrastructure in terms of train kilometres increased by 5%, which is a consequence of increased transport by all freight railway carriers.

The freight railway transport sector recorded increased activity of new freight carriers in the second quarter of 2016 compared to the second quarter of 2015. The use of almost all rail services increased in the observed period.

New railway carriers had a 13 percent market share in the second quarter on the basis of tonne kilometres and 14 percent on the basis of carried goods.
