HAKOM initiated controls of licences for use of RF spectrum on vesselsPRESS RELEASEThe first round of controls of validity of licences was carried out this week in the area of Zadar, where certain shortcomings had been noticed. HAKOM's inspectors will continue with controls of licences for radio stations on vessels along the Adriatic coast.
ZAGREB, 23 June 2016 – The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) initiated, in cooperation with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, controls of licences for use of the RF spectrum on vessels. The first round of controls of licences was carried out this week in the area of Zadar in cooperation with the Zadar Port Authority and during the control, the comparison of the database of valid licences and registered licences of the Port Authority, showed some shortcomings resulting in the imposition of appropriate measures against owners of such vessels who were instructed to obtain valid licences for use of the RF spectrum for radio stations on vessels. If the vessel owners fail to comply with the law conconcerning the use of their radio stations, he will face sanctions.
HAKOM will continue with controls in the upcoming weeks, and owners of vessels with radio stations are invited to check the validity of their licences for use of the RF spectrum on the vessel and to make the necessary adjustments. The fastest and the simplest way to obtain the licence is by submitting a request to HAKOM online by using the e-Vessels service that may be accessed on HAKOM's website. Furthermore, in case of vessel ownership change (or any other change of data in the licence for use of the RF spectrum on a vessel), the licence for a radio station on the vessel in untransferable, meaning that the holder of the licence is obliged to return the licence for annulment and the new owner needs to request a new licence.
