HAKOM: The number of Postal Services on the RisePRESS RELEASEAn increased number of business activities at the Croatian postal services market in the last quarter of 2015 led to an increase of the number of provided postal services.
ZAGREB, March 1, 2016 -In the last quarter of 2015, the postal services market of the Republic of Croatia recorded an increase in almost all of its segments, which had been expected since such a trend has been present for the last several years.
At the end of 2015, 22 service providers, including the largest one – the Croatian Post with a market share of 81 percent – provided their services at the postal services market in the Republic of Croatia. The biggest increase was noticed in the total number of postal services supplied, whereby 14 percent more services was provided than in the previous quarter and 3 percent more compared to the same period last year. Also, this is the biggest number of postal services provided in a quarter as compared with the results recorded in any of the individual quarter of the last three years. The increase of shipments of direct mail, parcels and printed matter had the biggest influence on the growth of services in total. Business activity in the international mail traffic increased as well, where the number of provided services rose by almost 25 percent compared to the previous quarter and by 8 percent compared to the same period last year. This is largely due to an increase in the services related to e-commerce and cross-border parcel traffic. The above mentioned results had an impact on the positive trends regarding the revenues generated from the provision of postal services. As a result, the revenues in the fourth quarter increased by 3 percent in comparison with the third quarter and by 8 percent in relation to the same period last year. A slight revenue increase was also recorded on an annual basis although the total number of provided services in 2015 was lower than in the previous year. The reason for that was enhanced provision of value added services.
