The International Conference on the Future Digital Economy was held in Montpellier. Domagoj Jurjević was a speaker at the conference in a panel discussion on “Digital Revolution” - OTT rules
as BEREC’s representative.
 
ZAGREB, November 19 2015 – Following the invitation of the organizer the IDATE Institute , one of the Europe's leading centres for the market analysis specialized in the field of telecommunications, internet and media industries, the 37th International Conference on the Future Digital Economy Digiworld Summit 2015˝ was held in Montpellier, France in the period between 17 and 19 November. This conference was held under the slogan "Digital First" gathering more than 1,200 participants from more than 30 countries.
 
Domagoj Jurjević , Deputy President of the Council of the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) took part in the conference as a representative of the EU regulatory body for the electronic communications, BEREC (Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications) and as a speaker at the panel discussion on the topic of the “Digital revolution - OTT rules”. The issues which were discussed at the meeting are following new business models (OTT services) that are contributing to the reduction of the operator’s traditional revenue, the equal regulatory treatment of OTT service providers and the traditional operators in the services competing with each other in the market. In addition there was a discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of an equal regulatory treatment. The European Commission will be dealing with this important issue in the forthcoming process of revising the regulatory framework, with the aim of fulfilling the objectives of the digital single market strategy (EU Digital Single Market Strategy).
