The Amount of Freight Carried Increased and the Number of Transported Passengers compared to the Previous Quarter of the Same Year Decreased

ZAGREB, September 3, 2015 In the second quarter of 2015 on the passenger rail transport market a 5 % fall in the number of transported passengers was recorded in comparison to the previous quarter and a 3 % fall compared to the same quarter of the year before. Referring to the freight transport a growth of 5 % was recorded compared to the previous quarter while in comparison to the same period of the year before a 6 % less freight was transported. Rail freight transport marks fall in tonne-kilometres travelled at a quarterly level while at the annual level a fall of 5 % was recorded. Meanwhile , a 4 % increase was recorded in the number of passenger- kilometers travelled at quarterly level as well as a 5% fall over the same quarter of 2014.

The market of railway services, managed by the provider HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o has not recorded any significant changes in the services usage. In this quarter the biggest growth has been recorded in the service facilities usage for vehicle garaging , while the largest decrease has been recorded in the service of  wagon scales usage and maneuvering at weighing . Referring to the railway infrastructure, the level of freight and passenger train kilometers has remained equal compared to the previous quarter while a 2% fall has been recorded in comparison to the same quarter of the previous year.
