ZAGREB, July 10, 2015 - The 51 st thematic session on the” Development of Broadband Communications Networks in the areas where there is no commercial interest” was held by the Committee for Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure of the Croatian Parliament Aside from the representatives of the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) the session was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, the Ministry of Construction and Physical Planning and the representatives of the Croatian County Association, who presented the undertaken activities to improve the development of broadband communications networks within their powers. HAKOM's activities were presented by Mr. Dražen Lučić, President of the Council . A pilot project for the development of an open broadband infrastructure of Primorje- Gorski Kotar County was presented as well. . It refers to the development project of nine of local self-government units , which is also the cross-border project including Slovenia and Italy.
The objective of the thematic session was to exchange opinions and views and to find solutions that would improve the development of broadband communications networks in the areas where there is insufficient commercial interest for investment. The main goal of the network society is to provide all citizens, the economy, tourism, science and institutions all over the Republic of Croatia with high speed internet access by implementing new information - communication technologies without which everyday life and business could not be imaginable.
