The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries was presented the Friends of the IEEE Croatia Section award for 2014.
ZAGREB, 28 November 2014 – At the 9th official dinner of the IEEE Croatia Section, which took place on 26 November 2014, at the International Hotel, the Award Committee of the IEEE Croatia Section announced the annual awards of the IEEE Croatia Section for 2014. The recipient of this year’s Friends of the IEEE Croatia Section award was the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) for a special contribution to the IEE Croatia Section through sponsorship of scientific gatherings, co-organization of workshops and encouraging membership and activities of its employees. The award was received by Mr Mario Weber, the Director of HAKOM, who represented HAKOM at the official award ceremony together with Mr. Željko Tabaković, Assistant Director.
Every year, the IEEE Croatia Section grants several annual awards to distinguished individuals and companies supporting its activities. HAKOM has been supporting activities of the IEEE Croatia Section for many years through sponsorship of international gatherings organized by the IEEE and by encouraging its employees to actively participate in the work of the IEEE Croatia Section by writing scientific papers and by participating in workshops and panel discussions. This award is another in a series of proofs of recognisability and reputation of HAKOM, and it is even more significant because it was awarded by colleagues from the scientific community. It should also be mentioned that Ms. Ana Katalinić Mucalo, HAKOM’s expert for radiocommunications, is serving her second mandate as the Secretary of the IEEE Croatia Section and that she was rewarded in 2012 for her contribution to the work of the section.
Other annual awards of the IEE Croatia Section were also presented at this event. The Nikola Tesla award was presented to prof. Ignac Lovrek (University of Zagreb) for exceptional scientific, expert and educational contribution in electrical engineering and computing and for significant achievements in the application of information and communication technology.
