HAKOM at the international conference Softcom 2014NEWSHAKOM’s experts will present their papers in the electronic communications sector at the international conference Softcom 2014, which has been co-organized by HAKOM and is taking place in Split between 17 and 19 September.
ZAGREB, 17 September 2014 – The 22nd international conference Softcom is taking place in Split between 17 and 19 September and it will include presentations of academic and expert papers in various fields of electronic communications, computer networks and software. This year HAKOM is co-organizing the conference, including a special workshop on regulatory challenges on the electronic communications market. .
More information about the conference is available at the following link: http://marjan.fesb.hr/SoftCOM/2014/index.htmlThe first part of the workshop, which will be chaired by HAKOM’s director, Mr. Mario Weber, will include presentations of papers by HAKOM’s experts, Mr. Mladen Sikirica and Mr. Danko Čurepić entitled “Mapping of Broadband Access – Croatian Experiences” containing an overview of the context for broadband mapping, a description of what mapping of broadband access includes and of the purpose of different kinds of mapping. It also contains a description of HAKOM’s mapping project for areas of broadband accessibility and of the project’s role in the implementation of broadband networks building projects to be financed from the European Union funds. Furthermore, results of the research on the possibilities for achieving greater speed through use of the latest broadband access technologies in the real access network based on the copper pair will be presented. Mathematical models for key transfer parameters of a symmetrical pair have been developed and, together with the developed software, they can be used as a basis for determining the speed of different VDSL2 transfer technologies for various scenarios. This research results from joint efforts of HAKOM, Ericsson Nikola Tesla and FER. HAKOM’s representatives in the research were Goran Jurin and Velimir Švedek. The second part of the workshop will include a presentation of research on regulatory prospects entitled “Future Network and Future Internet: A Survey of Regulatory Perspective“ conducted by Prof. Ignac Lovrek and Prof. Antun Carić from FER (Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing) and Mr. Dražen Lučić, President of the Council of HAKOM, and the project for the development of models for “User Privacy Risk Calculator“, developed by FER in cooperation with HAKOM’s experts Danijela Trutin and Luka Delong.
