Continuation of previous trends on the electronic communications marketPRESS RELEASEDevelopments on the electronic communications market in the second trimester were focused on the spreading of new technologies, including trends concerning the pay TV service and the increased number of broadband users ZAGREB, 9 September 2014 – The second trimester of 2014 was marked by the continuation of previous trends. Hrvatski Telekom maintained its largest share of users of mobile and fixed communications networks. Simultaneously the number of new operators increased compared to the previous periods and the number portability growth trend continued. By the end of the second quarter, a total of 1,027,586 numbers were ported in fixed networks and 736,537 numbers in mobile communications networks. Although revenue from telephone services decreased, total revenue from the provision of internet access services grew due to the increased number of connections and internet traffic resulting in a 30 percent increase of total revenue on the electronic communications market from internet access services. Revenue from pay TV services has also grown by 10 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The majority of users still use fixed communications networks to access the Internet. However, mobile penetration is increasing. At the end of the second trimester, the total broadband penetration amounted to 32.19 percent. Competition caused greater importance for packages of services and unlimited tariff models. HAKOM expects the same trend to continue in next period.
