HAKOM at the Internet Governance Forum

NEWS
Zagreb, 1 September 2014  – The 9th annual meeting of the IGF (Internet Governance Forum) will take place in Istanbul from 2 to 5 September. The topics of the meeting will include, among other things, issues of future Internet governance. It is expected that more than 100 different sessions will be held promoting discussions on views of different interest groups from various parts of the world. The two main sessions will focus on further globalization of IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority), that is, on transferring key Internet administrative functions to the wider community on the basis of the model of multiple interested parties, and on network neutrality. IGF will also actively review the outcomes of the NETmundial conference, which was held in Brazil this year, with a view to speeding up the reform of the Internet governance model.
IGF was established at the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) with a view to promoting discussions about the future of Global Internet Policy among all interested groups.
